4–The top executive of the struggling Zip drive maker Iomega Werner Heid resigned yesterday apparently at the request of the San Diego company’s board. Heid who took over as chief executive at Iomega in 2001 presided over a particularly rocky period at the company. During the past five years sales of its once-popular Zip storage drives have plunged much faster than the company anticipated while mini USB flash memory and other new products introduced by Iomega failed to catch on quickly enough to make up the difference. More than 10 projects are on the drawing board in Britain Europe?s largest gas consumer while new sites are also being built in the Netherlands Germany and Spain. Lithuania?s president said last month his country needs to build up gas stocks to beef up its supply security in the wake of the row over gas between Russia and Ukraine which highlighted Europe?s vulnerability as an energy importer.
