” In 1990, he opened Allways Moving in Kingston with his brother. During the early years, Benkert said he partook in a lot of the physical part of the job. He has since bought his brother out and is the sole owner of the company. Since starting in that basement more than a decade and a half ago, Allways Moving has grown to a moving business that operates along the entire east coast on its own and, through partnerships, offers national and worldwide services. It also employs more than 30 people and operates 13 trucks and a fleet of vans. Benkert added storage to the business’s name in 1999 when it purchased an 80,000 square foot storage facility. In early November, Benkert purchased the Poughkeepsie-based Budget Movers… Although, he said he is involved less now that he has three kids at home. “If someone calls me up to buy a raffle ticket, it’s pretty much automatic if its for a good charity,” he said. Benkert admits that the current state of Allways Moving and Storage has surpassed any goals he had when starting the business more than 16 years ago. “Although, we always wanted to be a large company, I don’t think I thought we’d ever do the revenue we do now,” he said. Authorities and company officials have yet to detail the actions of the Brennan and Falk workers testing Falk’s propane system on the morning of Dec. 6, but the statements from Evan Zeppos to the Journal Sentinel put Brennan employees in a more active role than previously reported. Brennan representatives had earlier said that the mechanical contractor’s employees were on the scene only as observers during a test of the Falk propane gas system. Zeppos described Brennan workers as “active participants” in the testing. “When a leak was discovered, Falk employees were told by Brennan employees that it was under control and there was no need to evacuate,” Zeppos said.
