IBM will integrate Softek’s data mobility technology and best practices with IBM’s methods and expertise in storage and data services. As a result, IBM and its business partners will help clients increase the flexibility, efficiency and reliability of moving data, enabling them to quickly respond to market needs and seize new opportunities. Softek’s patented Transparent Data Migration Facility (TDMF) solution enables a simple, unified approach to the non-disruptive movement and management of data across storage vendor platforms and operating system environments, as part of an information technology (IT) infrastructure change. By using Softek’s solutions, clients can improve their ability to migrate data while keeping data online and applications available for end users. Businesses increasingly require the ability to cost-effectively move data in a standard, reliable and timely manner, without impacting business operations. IBM has a significant opportunity to meet the market need for a standard solution for data migration, while extending its leadership in storage and data services.

The president of American Carriers Moving & Storage of Moorestown, N. , Lobascio used to spend at least $20,000 a year to protect the systems that generate customer estimates, schedule trucks and drivers, send invoices and process payroll for his $3-million- a-year company. Still, viruses, spyware and spam kept creeping onto the network – killing hard drives, destroying data and knocking servers offline… With no room in his budget for a full-time IT person, Lobascio tried to make do by calling in a part-time consultant. "You name the antispyware and antivirus package, and I bought it," he says. Larger companies have been able to keep their networks clean and their employees out of the back alleys of cyberspace with all-in-one devices that combine multiple layers of security capable of screening every byte traveling between the internal network and the Web. However, these unified threat management (UTM) appliances cost several thousand dollars and require a crack IT team to install and manage them properly. Small-business owners who can’t afford them have often been forced to take a more piecemeal approach – a spam filter here, an antivirus package there – and hope they can keep up with the frequent updates those technologies require. The small-business solutionNow, however, vendors are beginning to offer UTM appliances simple and affordable enough for small-business owners with no IT background. One such gadget, from New Jersey startup TrustELI, is called the ELI (for Electronic Lifestyle Integration) for Small Business.

Good afternoon, and thank you for joining us for the Quantum third quarter earnings call. On May 2nd of last year, we announced our intention to combine Quantum and ADIC to create a new storage company. The end result of this strategic initiative was focused on building a company that would be positioned to deliver improved financial performance while having increased opportunity to grow and innovate in the storage industry. From the day we announced the combination, we have been aggressively planning and implementing the integration in order to both achieve our stated synergy goals and demonstrate the longer term promise of the combination of two key players in the backup, recovery and archive market. Clearly Q3, the quarter we are reporting today was viewed as very critical towards establishing momentum for the new Quantum… Road maps are defined. As we announced yesterday, we have a new integrated reseller channel program. By moving quickly to have one integrated sales force selling products from both legacy companies, we were able to achieve our Q3 revenue goal while simultaneously delivering outstanding progress on our seal sales and marketing synergy goals. Jon will provide more detail on our revenue performance in a few moments. Also during last quarter’s call, we presented five critical success factors that we would focus on in order to measure progress toward achieving our business model goal. Let me provide some details on each of those areas. First, we stated that we wanted to grow the branded content of revenue to 60% including royalties.

The site launched last week, and its creators claim they obtained Paris’ personal effects through an auction initiated after Hilton neglected to pay her storage fees. According to the suit, Hilton was “shocked and surprised” to learn her belongings — including a passport, medical records, financial statements and other legal documents displayed on the site — were sold at a public auction, maintaining that the moving company she hired two years ago was supposed to pay the storage fees. Hilton’s publicist Elliot Mintz told AP that his client would like the site closed and “all of these items returned to her.

An unfinished game of solitaire ran on a Vista PC in a corner of the room. Here’s an edited version of the conversation. Q: You and this company have covered quite a lot of distance, had a lot of really big product launches over the nearly 32 years at this point. How does what’s happening today, the launch of Vista and Office 2007, rank as a milestone for you personally and for the company at large? Bill Gates: Well, the only other time that we’ve launched a Windows and Office update together was back in 1995, and the PC industry’s five times as big now. You know back then nobody used digital music, or digital photography or thought about editing movies and so the breadth of what you’re doing on the Windows PC is dramatically increased. In fact, if you look at time spent, people spend more time on the Windows PC now than they do watching TV. And that’s games, it’s instant messaging, it’s being creative, doing their homework.
