Finding and recruiting experienceddata center managersis difficult, especially in theWashington area, where qualifiedprofessionals are in greatdemand, said George Newstrom,president and chief operatingofficer at Lee Technologies Inc…
“There are a lot of datacenters in the Washingtonmetropolitan area. Andthe larger mission-criticalagencies — DOD, [HomelandSecurity Department]— cannot afford those datacenters to be inside whatthey call the blast zone,”Newstrom said. “So thereare huge [request for proposals] out on thestreet for moving data centers and criticalinfrastructure outside of the Washingtongeographic area. ”In addition, the Base Realignment andClosure program includes money to relocatecritical infrastructure. “So there isfunding for the major agencies, theones that have the most dire need,” headded. Newstrom said he believes LeeTechnologies can triple or quadruple in sizein the next five years because of the needand the allocated agency budgets. That expansion will include services, toeventually account for about 80 percent ofrevenue.
