He said he announced his candidacy nearly a year before the spring 2009 nonpartisan election to give him time to meet as many residents and community leaders as possible. Mullins said Monday she has not decided whether she will run for an additional term but questioned Schwantz’s quest for the village’s top job. “Most of the time, people who want to help in their community help out by running for the school board or the council or some other way of giving back to the community, instead of being presumptuous that they can do the job of chief executive officer before they’ve had any experience,” Mullins said. “Maybe he has a different take on it.

Bostwick presiding, met in closed session over the weekend and Monday and elected Reed Bekins of San Francisco as board member to succeed Milo W. Bekins of Los Angeles after his 12 years of service. The Bekinses represent the largest moving concern in the world. Reed Bekins cited fair trade practices as the most important topic to come before the meeting during this session. He regretted all the legislation that has been created to bring about standard fair trade practices in the industry.
