Self-storage site stirs flood fears
Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, IN
Herman & Kittle Properties Inc. wants to build the 82,310-square-foot storage complex to serve the city’s east side, said Tim Westerfield, land acquisition specialist for the company. The Indianapolis-based company is building another Infinite Self Storage location on Lima Road, just north of Wallen Road. The Stellhorn Road location will feature some climate-controlled and drive-up units. Westerfield said he wasn’t sure how much the project would cost or how many jobs would be created. Infinite Self Storage would create a buffer between nearby homes and the shopping center where Scott’s is located, Westerfield said. The complex will be fenced and landscaped to block neighbors’ views.

Symantec CEO Thompson to step down
San Jose Mercury News, USA
“I always thought that 10 years is the right amount of time for any CEO,” Thompson told Wall Street analysts in a conference call Monday, adding that Salem’s appointment as chief operating officer in January was part of a lengthy transition process. Salem, 43, is a native of Colombia who grew up in Southern California. He held several executive posts at Symantec in the 1990s before moving to Ask Jeeves and later serving as chief executive of the software company Brightmail, which was acquired by Symantec in 2004. News of the change came as Symantec and other Silicon Valley companies are starting to feel the global recession, though Thompson said the timing of the announcement was unrelated to the economy. Symantec announced last month that it would make unspecified job cuts after Thompson told analysts that the company saw “a pause in IT spending” by some of its customers in September. Still, he and Salem both expressed confidence that Symantec is well-positioned for future growth. The company reported net income of $140 million on revenue of $1.
