Herder 39 is the third generation to run Herder Bros. Moving & Storage. The company started when Herder’s grandfather quit his job at Chicago’s Union Stockyards in 1920. He acquired a cart and a horse and went into the moving business hauling ice in the summer and coal in the winter. The business settled at 53rd and Halsted streets evolving into a full-fledged moving company and freight hauler. Moving & Storage has been in Frankfort for the past 30 years.
