The job match justified the move. I’m vice president of technology in the gas chromatographs division which makes instruments for analyzing chemical components of gases in harsh climates. I had been working at Xiotech a data storage company in Eden Prairie Minn. which acquired a company in 2007 and then ran into a rough patch. I knew that my position was in danger so I had been looking intermittently for other jobs anyway. I had never been laid off before. It was a bit of a shock but I’ve been a director or a vice president for almost 15 years and executives have large networks to draw on.

Peasley actually began a company that delivered groceries in Boise. But within a few years he was moving just about everything and his company eventually became known as Peasley Transfer and Storage. The business is still moving and storing stuff today and is headquartered at 111 N. You can’t miss the place it has a replica of an old time horse drawn moving wagon perched on its roof. Peasley isn’t around anymore.

He also provides his people health care. “It’s the right thing to do” said Derbyshire the president of Park Moving and Storage. “It’s the moral thing to do. But he wants other small businesses to provide it too to save him money. He believes having more people insured means fewer end up making costly visits to emergency rooms that eventually get paid for by us – the taxpayers. “So I would like to see everyone pay something into the pool” Derbyshire said.
